Azerbaijan is a Turkic and majority-Muslim populated country in the Southwestern Asia, that regained its independence after the collapse of the Soviet Union in the 1991. Azerbaijan is located between the countries of Iran and Russia and borders with the Caspian Sea.
The economy of Azerbaijan is dependent on the export of oil and gas. The main industries of Azerbaijan are petroleum and natural gas, various petroleum products, oilfield equipment; steel, iron ore, cement; chemicals and petrochemicals; textiles, etc. But its major export commodities are oil and gas 90%, machinery, cotton, and various foodstuffs.
