Located in the Middle East, on the east of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain has today turned to a petroleum processing and refining country, and has transformed itself into a developed International Banking center. Its small size and central location play significant role in managing harmonious relations with its larger neighbours and in the foreign affairs. This petroleum production and refining account for approximately 60% of the export receipts, about 60% of the government revenues, and 30% of the GDP of Bahrain.
With its highly developed communication and transport facilities, Bahrain is home to numerous multinational organizations with business in the Gulf. The main export commodities of Bahrain are petroleum and petroleum products, aluminum, and textiles. The major industries of Bahrain are petroleum processing and refining, aluminum smelting, offshore banking, ship repairing, and tourism.
